Amendments to the Non-smokers Health Regulations banning smoking rooms in federally-regulated workplaces that came into effect on Wednesday, November 14th.
The Howard Johnson chain of hotels have recently announced they will be providing a 100% smoke-free guest experience in all their Canadian locations starting September 1, 2007.

Council on Smoking and Health Loses a Great Advocate
The Council regrets the loss a great advocate this past weekend, Katherine
Lytle died at age 89. She was very active with the Council until the age of
83. She was a founding member of the Council and worked tirelessly to create smoke-free spaces.

Building Capacity for a Tobacco-Free World
The World Conference on Tobacco and Health is being held in Washington from July 12th to the 15th. The conference will feature the latest research on the science of tobacco and its effects, and presenters will share relevant new data on topics including addiction, cessation, public policy, secondhand smoke, and smokeless tobacco.
